About ONSA

ONSA Advantage

ONSA prides itself on providing world class solutions to every project we take on. As a company, we see ourselves as the premiere M&E design firm in eastern Canada. What sets ONSA apart from our competition?

With a 55 year history of providing top quality mechanical and electrical design and professional services to our Atlantic Canadian clients, we have amassed a portfolio of over 5,000 successful commissions. We have been brought in to lead everything from small studies to designs of some of the largest & most complex building projects in the Region.

We are proud to state we are the preferred M&E engineers of many owners, architects, design builders and construction managers throughout industry. Whether it be traditional design-bid-build, construction management, design-build or any hybrid delivery method – we can accommodate and deliver professional services to suit.

It is hard to quantify how good any mechanical / electrical design is, however we pride ourselves that we consistently have below industry average change order percentages on our projects. This is not luck – it’s a result of a long term investment we’ve made in our people and how we chose to do business. We rely heavily on our internal QA and mentoring processes which results in designs which are economical over the building’s investment horizon, easy to maintain & operate and which surpass our clients’ expectations.

We hire the specialty expertise most design firms have to outsource / contract out for. The ONSA team includes personnel with specialized credentials such as a lighting designer who is certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (LC designation), two  engineers who are also Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD designation), and one who is a data center designer (DCDC designation). We have a  a mechanical engineer who also holds a Masters Degree in Fire Protection (allowing us to develop innovative and cost saving fire protection designs, i.e. heritage properties, open stairwells, etc) and a growing number LEED Accredited Professionals.
